My Bar Smarts Experience: Day 1

So I am at a weird point in life. I had a baby earlier this year, I have been experiencing a lot of high and low points career wise and lastly I thirst for knowledge and bettering myself so I went back to school to study Psychology. In doing so I registered for online classes at a popular educational organization and I enjoy the experience thoroughly. This got me to thinking . . .

What Else Could I Do Online?

Bartending is something I always wanted to do. My motivations have little to do with how lucrative it could be financially. If you know me personally and for a long period of time, you will pick up about me that I love to host events at my home. I may not be the best cook, or baker but when it comes to drinks, I get all into it. For my baby shower, I planned the menu to include strawberry and wild berry mojitos of which everyone enjoyed. I pureed strawberries especially for this concoction and added fresh mint, otherwise it wouldn't be considered a mojito of course!

Any who, in my search I found a few disappointing programs that are probably not worth much. However, there is one worth mentioning, Bar Smarts by Pernod Ricard USA. In this online interactive program you study to learn the art and science of mixology.  For up to 60 days from registration you have access to complete the program's 4 modules, quizzes and summary exam. If you fail a module quiz you will be kicked out the program and will have pay to restart it. Upon completion, you receive certification in the art and a chance to be invited to a seminar across the country for a hands on experience. The best part about this is it is inexpensive: the program costs ONLY $29 and its legit.

I started the program today and here is what I learned so far:

Fun Fact #1:  Dirty water plus wine is safe to drink . . . . With at least 12% alcohol content makes brackish water safe to consume
